One of the things I have always admired about designer Anne Podlesak (who has designed extensively for Ennea over the years) is her tenacity to decide on a theme and roll with it, churning out a multitude of designs in the process. Many of her designs, especially those in this series, invoke a kind of dreamy ‘from long ago’ sense but still fit in just fine as wearables in today’s world. Her next club offerings of patterns and yarns are built around heroines and mythical creatures.
In her self-published Legendary Knits books, now into the 3rd volume, the theme is ‘fairy tales, myths and legends’.
Part of the fun of these books are the stories behind each knit, outlined with each pattern, providing the knitter with the design inspiration behind the knitting pattern which definitely adds to the food for thought while knitting up these designs.
Each pattern is beautifully and thoughtfully photographed and charted and knitted in stunning, often hand-dyed, yarns from a variety of sources.
There are patterns for a variety of garments and accessories, from sweaters to shawls to socks to cowls to mitts, in cables and lace, including a few with bead embellishments, and fair isle.
Each collection of eight patterns is available on Ravelry as standalone individual PDFs or as an ebook which includes a printed version of the book once it’s fully published. The ebook option allows knitters to purchase the book before all of the patterns are released (as is currently the case with Volume 3), offering a bit of anticipation as each pattern is published.
