Designer: Kristy Howell
The fairy Melusina (or Melusine) falls in love with a mortal and agrees to marry him on one condition: he must never see her on Saturday, when she takes her bath. Enchanted by her beauty, he agrees, but eventually breaks his promise and spies on her at her bath. He discovers that from the waist down, she is a fish, a serpent, or a dragon. When Melusina learns that he has broken his promise, she vanishes.
The Melusina Scarf is based on Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi shawl construction, which begins at the center of a circle and works outward in concentric rings.
