Simple and fast to knit, these are perfect to show off your liveliest yarns. Available in six sizes, from children to women’s large. The lighter-lining mittens offer a snug cuff under jackets without the bulk of the warm outer mittens getting in the way.
Spin the yarn
Materials: OUTER MITTEN – 45/50/70/76/104/109 yds of worsted weight wool yarn. INNER MITTEN – 104/141/177/207/249/285 yds of light-fingering or fingering weight wool or wool-blend yarn.
Yarn Details: OUTER MITTEN – A 3-ply hand-spun worsted-weight yarn, spun from FatCatKnits “Dynomite” BFL, spun forward-draft, 17 wpi, 191 yds [174 m] per 4oz, 764 ypp. INNER MITTEN – 2-ply millspun merino alpaca, Asherah Lace by Oceanwind Knits, 362 yds [331 m] in 75g [2.6 oz], 2227 ypp.
Needles: US1 [2.25 mm] and US5 [3.75mm] DPNs or circulars to suit your preferred method of knitting in the round.
Gauge: OUTER MITTEN – 5.5 stitches & 8 rows per 1” [2.54cm] sq. in stockinette; INNER MITTEN – 7.5 stitches & 12 rows per 1” [2.54cm] sq. in stockinette.
Finished Sizes : child – 1(sm)/2(m)/3(lg); women – 4(sm)/5(m)/6(lg) – see size chart, below.
Other: Tapestry needle; waste yarn for thumb, stitch-markers.
