Here’s Lola – not the song by The Kinks, and definitely not the Brazilian temptress of Barry Manilow’s Copacabana. But if you are of a certain age, and grew up in Southern Ontario, Lola will evoke for you the memory of a pyramid shaped fruit flavoured frozen treat.
And if you weren’t around then (the 1960s and 1970s) to experience them, think of a freezie but way better.
Materials: 240 yds [219 m] of 3-ply light-worsted weight wool, spun by Lori Law – this will make one large and one small cowl.
Yarn Details: 3-ply hand-spun Falkland wool, forward-draft, 1065 ypp.
Needles: US4 [3.5 mm] circular or DPNs to suit your preferred method of knitting in the round.
Gauge: 20 sts / 40 rows per 4” [10cm] square in pattern.
Finished Size: S – 7” [18cm] tall, 17” [43cm] around; L – 8” [20cm] tall, 19” [48cm] around.
Other: tapestry needle for darning, stitch marker.
